Simple Salwar Kameez 

The simple salwar kameez is the most basic style of this garment. This ensemble consists of a kameez (top) and salwar (bottom). The kameez is usually made of fabrics like cotton, silk, chiffon etc. It has short sleeves, round neck, and side slits. The salwar is loose and pleated. Patiala salwar – This has a very wide pleated waistband and intricate side slits at the bottom. The pleats are stitched for better grip.


Fusion Salwar Kameez

Fusion wear is a rage nowadays. By combining Indian and western elements various fusion salwar designs have been created. Some popular fusion styles are:


Gown style kameez - Inspired by the maxi gown, this kameez is long, A-line and often sleeveless. It is paired with narrow pants or churidars.


Dhoti salwar – This loose salwar has wide legs like a dhoti. It may have a thick waistband and embroidery.


Palazzo pants kameez - Palazzo pants with wide flared legs look stylish paired with short straight kameez.


Cigarette pants kameez – Body hugging cigarette pants cropped at the ankles can be teamed with long, flowing Anarkali kameez.
